Saltwick Bay

The two iconic landmarks of Saltwick Bay, near Whitby.  In the foreground, the dawn sunlight catches the slowly rusting hull of the wreck of the Admiral Von Tromp (1976), a trawler out of Scarborough which was mysteriously run aground whilst way off its expected course.  In the background the Black Nab stands proud against the skyline, formed by the harder area of shale being left behind as the softer shale has been eroded over thousands of years.

Taken very low down and very close, to bring the vertical elements of the wreck above the skyline to separate it from the background, and as the warm sunlight starts to light up the wreck and nab without lighting up the ground beneath.
