Looking over the coastal town of Staithes on the North Yorkshire coast. The pastel colours appearing not long before sunset complement the colouful houses and rooves in the town. With a low tide, the harbour is exposed and a handful of fishing boats await deeper water to head out to work.
This shot was taken from the headland opposite Staithes, providing a high viewpoint to take in the view. The small area of clifftop at the bottom of the photo anchoring the image and its shape matched by the harbour wall and rivermouth. The near 50:50 composition accentuate the scale of the cliffs next to the houses and leave space for the clouds stretching out into the evening sky.
