The early morning sun rises over Stanage Edge near Hathersage in the Peak District, Derbyshire. As it rises, the warm sun lights up the rocks along the top of the edge. In the valley cooler light is reflected down onto the clouds trapped in the valley beyond, with the occasional ridge breaking through into the sun.
One of my favourite views across the valleys of the Peak District, taken on a cold and frosty morning – which on the face of it, when looking out of the bedroom window, would have been a grey-ed out morning. Persisting with the adage that “you make your own luck”, a trip up to the hills soon saw the scenery break free of the clouds and this wonderful view was the reward.
